College Beans

This tasty half-assed bachelor-style dish kept me alive through my undergrad.  It only costs about $5 to make, and it’ll last you four meals (unless you’re a small horse cleverly disguised as a human.)

All of the ingredients listed are found in 12.5 oz organic cans at Kroger, or you can use any 12.5 oz can you come across.  

This is stupid-easy to make, but tastes absolutely primo.  Make it the next time you’re in a rush, and you’ll thank me!

1 can diced tomatoes (Don’t drain.)
1 can hot chili beans (Don’t drain.)
1 can tri-bean mix (pintos, black, kidney), rinsed and drained
1 can sweet yellow corn (Hominy is also awesome in the winter!), rinsed and drained
1 cube Not Beef bouillon
1/2 cup tomato juice (or water)
3 tbs Cajun Chef or Cholula sauce
1/2 tsp Liquid Smoke
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp basil
1/4 tsp thyme
1/4 tsp sage
1/4 tsp chili powder
whatever other spices you want

Mix in a medium-sized saucepan on med-high heat until warm.  Serve.
