Game Day, Veganized

Here are a few recipes I “veganized.”  I found them in a local paper, and they are not my original recipes.  I think, however, that they would be excellent for tailgating or serving at a party.

Sausage Dippers
3 packages vegan sausage (Smart Links by LightLife or Turtle Island brand)

Cut into 1-inch pieces diagonally.  Warm and serve with the following dips:

Orange Bourbon BBQ Dip
1 cup vegan BBQ sauce
¼ cup orange marmalade
¼ cup bourbon
Simmer bourbon and marmalade on medium heat until liquid is reduced.  Stir in BBQ sauce.
Creamy Mustard Dip
1 cup spicy brown mustard
¼ cup Tofutti sour cream
2 tbs horseradish

Pita Chip Dippers

Warm or toast your pita bread of choice.  Cut into fourths and serve with the following dips:

Wasabi Pea Dip

1 lb frozen green peas, thawed and drained
1 cup silken tofu, drained
1 cup chopped cilantro
3 scallions, chopped
1 tsp wasabi paste
Blend all until smooth.
Green Goddess Dip
½ cup veganaise
½ cup Tofutti sour cream
2 cups baby spinach
1 ½ cups fresh herbs (basil, chervil, chives, tarragon), coarsely chopped
2 scallions, green parts only, chopped
1 tbs lemon juice
Blend all until smooth.
